Swiss Cottage

A small North West London ward positioned where St John’s Wood, Primrose Hill, Belsize Park and South Hampstead converge.

The epicentre for this area is the intersection between Avenue Road and Finchley Road where Swiss Cottage Underground station is located. This lively area features many shops, the Hampstead Theatre (which also hosts a regular farmer’s market in its courtyard), the Swiss Cottage Community Centre, and of course, the Ye Old Swiss Cottage itself.

HISTORY

Swiss Cottage was created for the May 1978 election and was redrawn in May 2002. In its previous form, Swiss Cottage covered just South Hampstead, while the former Adelaide ward covered the parts of the ward the east of Finchley Road (including Ye Olde Swiss Cottage itself).

The ward will be abolished for the 2022 election. Its area will be divided between the newly created Primrose Hill and South Hampstead wards.
